Six Texas Prison Horses just arrived Five geldings and a mare- July 11, 2011 These horses are usually super horses for kids. They ride like robots, have seen everything and been everywhere. We classify ponies into three categories. Slow Poke Pony - These ponies need a crop to get them to move faster than a walk. These ponies are great for lead line, the little ones and very timid riders. Step-up pony - These ponies will go quicker than the first group but will only go after you kick them a few times. Most of our ponies fall into this group. This group usually stops or slows down if the rider stops pushing. Performance pony - These ponies ride like performance horses. They will immediately respond with the first kick. These ponies are for riders that know how to ride, but are sometimes more pony than first time riders need. |
